  4. TOPIC:::::THE MIRO DC1 tv CARD and THE INTEL PREMIERE II MOTHERBOARD

  6. PROBLEM:::Getting the Miro Windows Driver to setup in Windows Control Panel.
  7.  
  8. SOLUTION::The authors system utilizes Flash Bios version 10.
  9.           The important motherboard *-Bios Setup Setting-* to accomodate
  10.           add-in cards requiring an address space in the conventional upper
  11.           memory area occurs on the Peripheral Setup page, and specifically
  12.           in the ISA Shared Memory field of the "Plug n'Play" Page.
  13.           The upper memory is by default shadowed in this system.
  14.           It is important to prevent this shadowing in the area of the
  15.           add-in card on-board Bios.
  16.           Locate the Bios Page and field mentioned above and press Enter
  17.           on this field to select the amount of Ram to be set aside as
  18.           non-shadowed. For the Miro card the correct value is 16K.
  19.           After this is set, a new field appears allowing selection of
  20.           the starting address of this 16K of memory. In the Miro cards
  21.           case, CC00 worked well, but other selections are available
  22.           here and in the driver setup in Windows Control Panel.

  24. NOTE:-->>>In addition to excluding the memory from shadowing here, be sure
  25.           to exclude the same region (ie CC00-CCFF) in EMM386 memory manager
  26.           in CONFIG.SYS using the command X=CC00-CCFF on the EMM386 line, and
  27.           also insert the line EMMExclude=CC00-CCFF in SYSTEM.INI [386enh]
  28.           section.

  30. CLOSING:::Another consideration with this combo is hard drive speed.
  31.           The Intel Premiere onboard PCI IDE interface allows the use of
  32.           modern IDE drives (eg Western Digital Caviar series) which has a
  33.           tremendously positive effect on saving 30fps vidio with no dropped
  34.           frames.
